Described as “one of America’s great percussion virtuosi” (Percussive Notes, Journal of the Percussive Arts Society), Randy Gloss is a percussionist with an extensive background in global drumming traditions, contemporary and classical percussion, and drumset.

A protégé of percussion vanguard John Bergamo and tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Randy is widely recognized for his work as a founding member and catalyst of the acclaimed percussion group Hands On’Semble. His wide-ranging collaborations include artists such as Ziggy Marley (Grammy-winning Fly Rasta), L. Shankar, Larry Karush, Carlos Niño & Friends, Andre 3000, Linda Perry, Montaigne, Vinny Golia, Go: Organic Orchestra, Nicole Mitchell, David Hykes, and the Lian Ensemble (including Pangea with Djivan Gasparian and Medea starring Annette Bening), among others.

Randy has contributed percussion to numerous film soundtracks (working with Danny Elfman, Harry Gregson-Williams, Gary Chang, Steven Argila, and more), as well as television, video games, and theater productions. He has also created extensive sample libraries for Apple, Ilio, and Native Instruments, and has released multiple albums and published numerous works of solo and ensemble percussion music.

Since the late 1990s, Randy has served on the faculty at CalArts, and has appeared as a visiting artist at institutions across the U.S. and internationally.
