Praised by the Los Angeles Times as a “versatile violinist,” Grammy-nominated musician Rachel Iba is a Los Angeles–based violinist, composer, conductor, and educator. Iba performs with leading ensembles including Wild Up, Brightwork newmusic and serves as concertmaster of Derrick Skye’s Bridge to Everywhere. An active studio musician for film and television, she has also appeared on NPR with the world-folk band Primero Sueño. Rachel is Artistic Director and Conductor of the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra, which made its Carnegie Hall debut in 2024 under her leadership. She has taught at institutions including CalArts, Mount Saint Mary’s University, and Longy School of Music, and serves on the violin faculty at Kinhaven Music School. She is also a regular pre-concert lecturer for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and can be heard on its Upbeat Live podcast. Iba holds degrees from the California Institute of the Arts and Oberlin Conservatory.
