Kai Kennedy serves as Professor and Vice Chair of Equity in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of California, San Francisco. A physical therapist by training, she teaches across disciplines in the areas of Leadership, Advocacy, and Interprofessional Collaboration.
She has a strong interest in applying an equity lens to curriculum design, clinical practice, research, policy, and leadership development. Her research focuses on identifying innovative educational strategies to prepare clinicians to deliver effective care through community-centered programs.
Kai is the first physical therapist to be named an Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity and serves as faculty at the Global Brain Health Institute.
She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, College Park; her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University; completed fellowship training at George Washington University; and is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Professions Education at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
